Stormont Dundas and Glengarry police recover stolen vehicle, respond to 235 calls over long weekend

It was a busy Victoria Day long weekend for the Stormont Dundas and Glengarry (SD&G) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

Officers responded to 235 calls for service, laid 116 provincial offences tickets, removed several impaired drivers from highways and recovered a stolen vehicle. 

Around 12 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, officers investigated a suspicious vehicle parked at a gas station in South Stormont Township.

Stephane Bussiere, 38, of Nepean, faces the following charges:

The accused was released from custody and is due in court in Cornwall on June 4, 2024.

A short time later, around 12:30 a.m., officers were conducting a RIDE program in Alexandria in North Glengarry Township, when a vehicle was intercepted, and the driver was arrested for impaired driving.

Christian Blais, 30, of North Glengarry, faces the following charges:

The accused was released from custody and is due in court in Alexandria on June 5, 2024.

Then, around 2 p.m. on Monday, May 20, officers responded to a traffic complaint involving a black 2022 Jeep Wrangler on Highway 401 in South Glengarry Township. A traffic stop was conducted and it was discovered the vehicle had been stolen.

A 15-year-old boy from Montreal was charged with the following offences:

The accused was released and is due to appear at the Ontario Youth Justice Court in Cornwall on June 20, 2024.

Then, around 9:30 p.m. that evening, officers conducted a traffic stop on Belanger Road in North Dundas Township for a Highway Traffic Act violation.

Michael Strong, 32, of North Dundas, was charged with the following offences:

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Morrisburg on July 2, 2024.
