Passenger caught not wearing seatbelt as driver goes 60km/h over limit: OPP

Charges have been laid after provincial police clocked a driver going more than 60 km/h over the speed limit on Highway 417.

Officers with the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Polie (OPP) were conducting traffic enforcement in the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 17.

Around 1 a.m., officers observed a motor vehicle traveling at 173 km/h in a 110 km/h zone.

The driver was charged with stunt driving, their licence was suspended for 30 days and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

A passenger who was not wearing a seatbelt was also charged.
