Carol Anne Meehan drops out of conservative nomination for Ottawa West—Nepean

Just under two weeks after announcing she would like to be the conservative nomination for Ottawa West—Nepean, Carol Anne Meehan reversed her decision.

In a Facebook post, the former Ottawa city councillor and TV news anchor said she was expecting the nomination to happen in the near future.

“As of today there is no date to choose the Conservative candidate, and it appears there will be no Federal election at least until next year, which is more time than I can spare away from Imagine Laserworks Ottawa, my start-up business,” Meehan wrote.

After informing the conservative party, she wrote that “Canada desperately needs a new generation of leadership.”

Meehan wanted to add her name into the ring because of some specific policies she hoped to change, including the capital gains tax, immigration policy and carbon tax.
