Ottawa police investigating homicide in Orléans; victim name released

The homicide unit is investigating the death of a 34-year-old man who was stabbed at a home in Orléans, Ottawa Police Service said on Friday.

On Aug. 7, officials found Varney Marshall dead at around 6:35 p.m. at a home in the 300 block of Mockingbird Drive in Ottawa’s east end. He had been stabbed, emergency providers said.

Initially police released a statement on Thursday saying they were investigating a “suspicious” death.

Police are now seeking surveillance video from residents and those who may have been in the area at the time of the incident.
