Police brace for motorcycle group gathering in Gananoque on Friday

By CityNews Ottawa staff

The Gananoque Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are making the public aware of a planned motorcycle group gathering.

Police anticipate the presence of about 150 members of the Outlaws Motorcycle Club on Friday, September 13 and “their affiliated groups” in the town of Gananoque, Sgt. Mike Driscoll with the Gananoque police says. This gathering has been taking place since 2018.

In a release, the OPP call this group a gang who are involved in a “wide array of criminal activity (that) can cause harm and victimization in communities”.

While Gananoque police are making the public aware of the club’s presence, they say there have been minimal disruptions with the group over the last few years.

Officials say they have taken steps to ensure the safety of the community.

“The Gananoque Police Service along with other outside agencies have taken proper precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of citizens and visitors of the Town of Gananoque.”

For what members of the public can expect on Friday, Sgt. Driscoll tells CityNews they will “see an increase in police presence and to contact police if they have any concerns”.
