OPP investigate after child struck by vehicle in Prince Edward County

A child is in hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries after they were struck by a vehicle near Sandbanks Provincial Park Friday evening.

Members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the scene around 9:30 p.m. to find the six-year-old’s leg had been squashed under the vehicle. The vehicle failed to remain at the scene.

A car was reported being seen in the area, but as police continue their investigation, they are asking for cooperation from anyone who may have seen the incident.
