The vehicle clocked in at 172 km/h and there were three other adults and a child passenger in the vehicle.

“Speeding is a major factor in fatal collisions on Ontario roads. Passengers’ fate rely on the driver’s behaviour, and speeds like this put not only the passengers’ lives at risk, but other road users as well,” the OPP East Region wrote on X.
The OPP are out in full force this weekend as long weekends often cause a higher volume of cars on roadways which can lead to more driving offences.
Nearly 1,000 tickets were handed out by the OPP across the province during the Easter long weekend in the spring.
Police issued 957 tickets for speeding, 20 for stunt driving and 101 for seatbelt infractions. An additional 25 people were charged with impaired driving and 23 faced distracted driving charges.

Over the Labour Day weekend over 1,600 tickets were issued.
Just over 1,000 were for speeding, 36 for stunt driving, 48 for impaired driving, 34 for distracted driving and 72 charges laid for seatbelt infractions.
Police also issued 500 warnings.
“Let’s all get where we want to be this long weekend,” OPP wrote on X. “Slow down because speed kills.”
