Woman in custody for 10 arsons in downtown; more charges expected

Police have laid a number of arson charges, among others, to a 41-year-old woman in connection to fires in Ottawa’s downtown.

According to police, on Oct. 17, Cassandra Mary Jodoin of Ottawa was charged in relation to numerous fires that occurred in the ByWard Market, Lowertown and Sandy Hill areas over the last month.

She was charged with:

  • Arson disregard for human life x3
  • Arson damage to property x10
  • Possess incendiary materials x10
  • Possess Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 x2

Jodoin appeared in court last week and was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police say the arson unit expects to lay further charges.
