Woman in custody for 10 arsons in downtown; more charges expected

A local woman is facing arson charges in connection with several fires in Ottawa’s downtown core.
Ottawa police said the 25 charges are in relation to fires in the ByWard Market, Lowertown and Sandy Hill areas over the last month
Cassandra Mary Jodoin, 41, of Ottawa, faces the following charges:
- Arson disregard for human life (three counts)
- Arson damage to property (ten counts)
- Possess incendiary materials (ten counts)
- Possess Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (two counts)
Jodoin appeared in court last week and was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Police say the arson unit expects to lay further charges.
