Thieves demand keys then assaulted victims with weapons in South Keys

Ottawa police are looking into robbery and carjacking incidents that involved two suspects and hoping the public can help.

On Nov. 3 around 9:15 p.m., suspects approached a victim in a parking lot in the 2200 block of Bank Street and demanded the keys to their vehicle. When the victim tried to flee the area, they were assaulted with weapons, police said in a press release.

Suspects took off with the vehicle before officers found it the next day near Bank Street and Lester Road.

The second incident happened Nov. 7 at around 11:20 p.m. in the 2400 block of Bank Street. A similar incident took place where suspects approached the victim demanding their keys. Once again the victim tried to leave and they were assaulted with a weapon. In this instance, the suspects fled the area without the vehicle.

Both victims sustained physical injuries and in both cases the suspects descriptions are similar.

Police are looking for a Middle Eastern male about 18 to 20 years old and about 5’8”. He spoke in English without an accent. At the time of the incident he was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, black pants, a black Under Armour jacket (with the brand name on the front), a black toque and black shoes with a white stripe.

The other suspect is also a Middle Eastern male about 18 to 20 years old and about 5’8”, who spoke in English without an accent. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt with markings on the front, a shiny black jacket, black shoes with a white trim and a black balaclava.
