Owner, driver could face up to $50K fine for detached wheel

Police responded on Monday morning to a commercial that did not have a wheel.

It happened on Highway 417 near Parkdale Avenue, when officers from the Ottawa detachment caught a commercial vehicle without a back wheel. Police said both the driver and the owner have been charged under the Highway Traffic Act.

The driver and owner face a minimum $2,000 fine but there’s a maximum of $50,000.
