Leeds OPP investigate fatal collision south of Smith Falls

Leeds OPP is investigating a fatal collision that happened just south of Smith Falls just before 3:30 a.m. on Jan. 1.

Emergency personnel responded to a single vehicle collision on County Road 29 to find a car left the roadway and entered the ditch, striking a tree.

The lone occupant of the car was a 31-year-old man from Jasper. Emergency crews removed the man from the vehicle before it caught fire, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation, who witnessed the collision, or has dashcam footage is asked to contact Leeds County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
