14-year-old charged in connection to Place d’Orleans station fires

Police laid charges against a 14-year-old male who they believe is connected to several fires at the under-construction Place d’Orleans station.

In a press release, officials note the fires happened between Nov. 8 and Dec. 29 last year at the new light rail transit (LRT) station. The fires caused about $7,000 in damage.

The teen is charged with arson damage to property (four counts) and possess incendiary materials (four counts).

The youth will not be named. He appeared in an Ottawa court on Jan. 9.
