A 30-year-old and 17-year-old have been charged with 20 offences following a vehicle stop on Hwy 401 in Loyalist Township Thursday night.
Shortly before midnight on Jan. 9, a vehicle was stopped for speeding while travelling eastbound on the 401. Officers stopped the vehicle and arrested two people after locating open alcohol. Further search of the vehicle unearthed suspected cocaine, suspected crack cocaine, suspected LSD and suspected MDMA.
Bridget Docherty, 30, and a youth who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, both from St. Catherines, have been charged jointly with six counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Docherty has also been charged with speeding, possession of unmarked cigarettes, and driving a vehicle with liquor readily available.
The adult accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Feb. 11. They were also issued a three-day Administrative Drivers License Suspension, for registering a “warn” on the approved screening device.
In addition, the youth was charged with two counts of failure to comply with a release order, and failure to comply with a probation order.
The youth was held in custody prior to a bail hearing Jan. 10.
