Arnprior fire that killed 30-year-old was deliberately set: OPP

Officials determined a fire in Arnprior that killed a man in January 2024 was arson.

According to police, when they arrived at the home at 126 Elgin St. W. in the community north of Ottawa, firefighters found a 30-year-old man. He was taken to Arnprior Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) noted at the time that three other people were living in the three-unit building, and all three escaped unharmed.

After a year of investigating, OPP and the Office of the Fire Marshal determined the fire was deliberately set.

Officials are imploring anyone with information to come forward. They believe video evidence could also be found.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Renfrew County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222- 8477 (TIPS).
