Two people trapped inside after head-on collision wreck in Metcalfe

Firefighters removed two people from a vehicle wreckage that happened on Tuesday night.

The collision happened at 8:39 p.m. when Ottawa police called fire crews to the 6600 block of Bank Street. When crews arrived, they found a head-on collision with drivers in both vehicles “pinned” inside.

One car was found on the east side shoulder and the second on the west side ditch. Hose lines were set up as a precaution. Officials stabilized the vehicles prior to extrication. A third vehicle was also involved but had minor damage after driving through the debris from the serious accident.

Using specialized tools, firefighters were able to remove the drivers’ doors on both cars to help the person out. The first trapped driver was out by 9:04 p.m. and the second at 9:11 p.m.

Crews also spread absorbent on the leaking fluids and disconnected batteries on the vehicles before leaving the scene in the control of Ottawa police.
