Pedestrian struck by vehicle on Highway 401 near Kingston

Early this morning emergency responders were called to Highway 401 near the Highway 15 exit by Kingston.

According to officials, a pedestrian who was trying to cross the highway was struck and killed. It happened just after 1:30 a.m. and as a result, police closed the highway for several hours.

Kingston Fire Rescue, paramedic services, a provincial police collision investigator and the coroners office are still looking into the incident. The identity of the person killed has not been confirmed, officials said.

Police are asking for any witness information or video footage to be brought forward.
