OPP, two police canine units track down man who ran from collision

Over 10 charges were laid to one man who ran from a vehicle crash that sent two people to hospital north of Kingston.

The head-on collision happened just after 8:00 p.m. on Thursday on Road 38 in South Frontenac Township. Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the scene where a woman in her 40s and a female passenger in her 20s from one car were sent to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle ran from the area, officers said in a press release. OPP emergency response team, OPP canine unit and dogs and officers from Kingston Police, set out to find the man.

In about 30 minutes the accused was sniffed and arrested.

As a result Andrew Seguin, 34, from Loyalist Township was charged with:

  • Dangerous operation causing bodily harm
  • Operation while prohibited – five counts
  • Possession of a Schedule III substance – psilocybin
  • Fail to stop at an accident resulting in bodily harm
  • Use plate not authorized for vehicle
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Fail to remain
  • Fail to report accident
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Fail to properly wear seatbelt

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing at a court in Kingston. Seguin’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded.
