After delays on Monday, some commuters on Line 1 of the Ottawa light rail transit (LRT) system were met with shuttle buses to start their Wednesday morning.
Just before 1:00 p.m. trains resumed at Blair Station both platforms.
R1 bus service was ongoing for most of the morning between St-Laurent and Blair, shuttle service between St-Laurent and Cyrville, while crews dealt with a gas leak.
“The gas line that was damaged provides fuel to the switch heaters in this area on Line 1,” a memo reads. “OC Transpo is working with Rideau Transit Maintenance (RTM) to determine the extent of the damage to the gas line and the required repairs. At this time, it is unclear how long repairs will take.”
According to Ottawa firefighters, they were called to Blair Road just off Highway 174 at 6:53 a.m. with Ottawa police and OC Transpo.
A vehicle drove off the highway and struck a gas line, forcing the LRT in the east end to shut down while Enbridge gas worked to contain the leak.
Nick DeFazio, media relations officers with Ottawa fire, told CityNews the person in the vehicle didn’t need to be extricated and was walking around when officials arrived. Firefighters were blocking off the area.
Officials say there is no injuries to report.
