There will be a full O-Train Line 1 closure this Sunday, as a part of planned testing for the Stage 2 O-Train east extension.
During this service adjustment on Feb. 9, O-Train Line 1 service will not run between Tunney’s Pasture and Blair Stations between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Crews will be working on integrating the O-Train extension to Orléans with the existing network, wrote the City of Ottawa in an X post.
“This temporary closure is required for Stage 2 systems integration, in preparation for Line 1 service to be extended from Blair Station to Trim Station as part of the O-Train East extension,” said the city in a news release.
A milestone for Ottawa’s transit system, the O-train extension of Line 1 from Blair to Trim introduces rail access to east-end neighbourhoods.
OC Transpo is extending rail by 12.5 kilometres and adding five new stations, where residents of Orléans, Blackburn Hamlet, and Beacon Hill will be within 5 kilometres of light rail.
Full Line 1 service will resume by 11 a.m. this Sunday, the city noted.
According to the municipality, R1 replacement bus service will run from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. between Tunney’s Pasture and Blair stations.
Additionally, shuttle bus service will run between St-Laurent and Cyrville stations, and between Lees Station and Mackenzie King Bridge, from 8 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
If work is completed ahead of schedule, Line 1 service could resume earlier than 11 a.m., noted Ottawa.
