PSW charged with abuse of elder in Ottawa retirement home

In a news release on Feb. 26, the Ottawa Police (OPS) reported they have charged a woman in connection with an elder abuse investigation.

The assault took place on Feb. 5 in a retirement residence in the Trim Road area where a senior incurred minor injuries, wrote OPS on X.

Police are seeking additional victims and witnesses to complete the investigation.

According to OPS, Charita Munar, 65, was a personal support worker (PSW) employed by the retirement residence. The Ottawa woman has been charged with two counts of assault and one count of assault with a weapon.

The accused appeared in court yesterday.

OPS is asking anyone who witnesses or experiences elder abuse to report the incident.

“Reporting these incidents is an important step in stopping elder abuse,” wrote OPS.
