The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Ottawa detachment pulled over a G2 driver on Highway 417 this past Tuesday evening, traveling 87 km/h over the speed limit.
According to OPP, the driver had just obtained their G2 license on Feb. 18.
The driver has been charged with stunt driving, and is also being criminally charged with dangerous operation, police said.
“Dad was especially unimpressed since it was his vehicle, and the driver was using it to make food deliveries,” noted OPP.
Following the incident, the G2 driver received an immediate 30-day driving suspension and a 14-day vehicle impound. Additionally, the accused is facing a one-year driving prohibition and minimum $2,000 fine upon conviction.
The driver will also have to restart the Graduated Licensing Program, which includes repeating G1 and G2 learning levels and completing two road tests, before obtaining a full G license.
