Three charged in ‘high-value’ Barrhaven perfume theft

Ottawa police arrested three men in connection to a perfume theft that happened on St. Patrick’s Day.

Officers responded to a theft in progress at a business on Strandherd Drive at 10:45 p.m. on March 17. By the time police arrived, the suspects were gone.

Carrying out an investigation, officials were able to later arrest three Ottawa men in connection to the case.

Andrew Smyth, 34, Shane Albert, 40 and Theodore Vanderhorn, 56, are facing charges of:

  • Theft over $5,000
  • Wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Conspiracy to commit theft over $5,000

All three remain in custody.

“Investigators would like to thank members of the public who provided assistance during the early stages of the investigation,” police said in a release.
