Roadway closed for ‘several hours’ following serious collision

A roadway by the Ottawa General Hospital was closed after police responded to a “serious collision” late Wednesday morning.

Officials say that Smyth Road is closed between Russell Road, Saunderson Drive and Othello Avenue.

A collision occurred between a pedestrian and a truck. The pedestrian, a woman in her 50s, succumbed to her injuries.

Police closed the area “for several hours.” They are still looking for witnesses to speak to.
