Here is what is open and closed for Colonel By Day weekend

As cities and provinces throughout the country celebrate August’s Civic Holiday, a number of Ottawa businesses and services will see changes to reflect the holiday schedule.
As per a press release by the City of Ottawa, here is what to expect will be open, closed, or changed on August 3, 2026.
Client Service Centres
Ottawa’s 3-1-1 contact centre will be open, but only for urgent matters that require immediate attention. You can submit a service request online at ottawa.ca/311.
ServiceOttawa’s client service locations will be closed at Ottawa City Hall at 110 Laurier Ave W, Ben Franklin Place at 101 Centrepointe Dr and Orléans at 255 Centrum Blvd. ServiceOttawa phone lines will also be inactive for the holiday.
Other Monday closures include the Provincial Court and Administrative Penalty System Hearing area, the City of Ottawa Spay and Neuter Clinic, the City of Ottawa Archives at the James Bartleman Centre, and the Business Licensing Centre at 735 Industrial Avenue.
Employment and Social Services
All four Employment and Social Services offices will be closed Monday. These are the offices located at 370 Catherine St, 2339 Ogilvie Rd, 100 Constellation Dr, and 2020 Walkley Rd.
Green bin / Recycling / Garbage Collection
There will no be no waste collection of three pickup types listed above, as well as curbside bulky item collection on August 3. Pickup for Monday will take place on Tuesday, August 4. In turn, all collection pickups will be one day later through the rest of the week (ex: Tuesday pickup will take place Wednesday, Wednesday takes place Thursday, etc.).
Multi-residence garbage containers and bulky items will be collected on their regularly scheduled day, including the holiday Monday. Multi-residence recycling and green bin collection, however, will be delayed in the same fashion listed above.
The Trail Waste Facility Landfill will be open on Monday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Parking
All regular Ottawa parking regulations will apply on Monday, August 3.
Recreation and cultural services
Ben Franklin place will be closed on holiday Monday.
Beaches and outdoors will remain open with lifeguards on duty. This includes splash pads and public wading pools.
City-operated museums, as well as galleries and the Shenkman Arts Centre will be closed. Meridian Theatres at Centrepointe will also remain closed.
Other community, cultural and recreation facilities will have their hours altered by the holidays, including changes to drop-in schedules. Find the holiday changes for your applicable facility at the list provided on the City of Ottawa’s website.
Transit Services
OC Transpo
Most OC Transpo buses will operate on a Saturday schedule in place of the traditional Monday schedule. The exception is Route 13, which will operate on a traditional weekday schedule.
Overnight service on N39, N45, N61, N75, and N105 will be extended to start at 1:00 a.m.
O-Train Line 1 will run on a reduced weekday schedule from 5 am to 1 am, with peak period service reduced to every 6 minutes.
O-Train Line 2 and 4 will operate on their normal weekday schedules between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 a.m.
The OC Transpo Lost and Found location will be closed, but customers who lose an item can still submit an inquiry online on the OC Transpo website.
Para Transpo
Regularly scheduled recurring trips on Para Transpo are automatically cancelled on Monday, August 3. These trips can be re-booked by calling 613-560-5000 or using My Para Transpo.
The reservations phone line will be open on August 3, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and the trip information and cancellation line will be open from 6:00 a.m. until 12:30 a.m.
Ottawa Public Health
Ottawa’s Site mobile van will still operate on Monday between 5:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.
The Sexual Health Clinic and its satellite clinics, all dental clinics, and Parenting-In-Ottawa drop-ins will all be closed on Monday, August 3.
Ottawa Public Library
All Ottawa Public Library branches will be closed on Monday, August 3, but all digital content can still be found on the Ottawa Public Library’s website. Regular library hours will resume on Tuesday.
