25-year-old charged with attempted murder in Hawkesbury stabbing

A person is charged with attempted murder after a stabbing incident in Hawkesbury, Ont. that saw police officers tend to the wounds first.

The situation happened on May 29 around 5:30 p.m. An officer from the provincial police detachment in Hawkesbury was flagged down outside a home on Main Street East.

There, the officer learned a 39-year-old man had been assaulted in nearby Pioneer Park and was suffering from stab wounds. More police arrived and gave first aid to the victim until Russell County Paramedics could be on scene.

The male victim was later transferred to a regional trauma centre with serious injuries.

Police found and arrested a suspect in the area without incident.

As a result Alexandre Piette-Racine, 25, from Champlain Township, is facing an offence of attempt to commit murder. He remains in custody.
