Two-vehicle crash shut down Hwy. 417 eastbound into downtown

Eastbound lanes of Highway 417 were closed at Metcalfe Street following a serious two-vehicle collision on Thursday, according to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

OPP Constable Michael Fathi said in a video posted to Facebook that the highway closed eastbound and suggested people take alternate routes. It happened just before the Nicholas Street off-ramp after noon on Thursday.

Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash that sent a 39-year-old male driver to hospital in life-threatening condition. Police since said the man’s condition changed to critical but stable. The other driver was not injured, OPP said.

Police are asking anyone with dashcam video of the crash to call them at 1-888-310-1122.

OPP said all lanes reopened shortly after 4 p.m.
