1 killed in serious four-vehicle crash on Ottawa Valley highway

One person was killed, and four others injured, in a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 41 near Renfrew, Ont., on Tuesday afternoon.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) from the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment were called to the scene between McGrath and Spring Creek roads just after noon for a “serious” collision. Police told CityNews in an email that initial estimates say that four vehicles are involved.

Five people were initially reported to have been injured, officials said, with “varying degrees” of severity. The person killed is counted among those reported as injured. Police said that crews are working to reconstruct the scene.

The rural stretch of highway just south of Eganville, Ont. is still expected to be closed for several hours, OPP said at 4:15 p.m.
