Motorcyclist in his 40s dead after collision with SUV

Ottawa police are investigating a fatal collision that happened in the city’s west end on Thursday.

It happened just after 4:00 p.m. on two rural roads just outside of Richmond on Huntley Road near Mansfield Road. Reports indicated that a motorcycle and an SUV crashed.

Officers said that despite life-saving efforts from bystanders and emergency responders a man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene. The people in the SUV did not have any physical injuries.

Investigators are asking people who witnessed the crash or who have dashcam footage to speak to police.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Fatal Collision Unit at 613-236-1222, extension 2345.
