Teen charged after making threats to passengers on OC Transpo bus

A woman is appearing in court on Monday to face a charge in relation to a hate-motivated incident.
Ottawa police said the accused boarded an OC Transpo bus on April 26 around 10:35 a.m. The bus was stopping at 1360 Bank St., at the Billings Bridge Station. Officials said in a press release that when the woman got on the bus she “verbally” confronted two people.
Police say the woman was “uttering racial slurs and making threats.”
Another passenger tried to intervene and he was assaulted in an altercation, police note.
An OC Transpo Special Constable went on the bus and arrested the suspect until Ottawa police arrived.
The 19-year-old was charged with:
- Criminal Harassment (2 counts)
- Mischief – interfering with lawful use, enjoyment, or operation of property (3 counts)
- Uttering threats (2 counts)
- Assault
- Breach of Peace Bond
The hate and bias crime unit is the lead on the investigation, which is ongoing. Police are looking for more witnesses to come forward.
