Uninsured and suspended G2 driver found driving while impaired: police

A G2 Ottawa driver has been charged with multiple driving offences following a traffic stop by Ottawa Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
In the afternoon on Wednesday, police said they received a notification from their Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) camera alerting them that the registered owner of the vehicle was a suspended driver.
After stopping the driver, police suspected them to be impaired by alcohol. Upon further investigation, attending OPP learned the driver had a G2 licence and was uninsured.
As a result, the driver faces the following charges:
- Operation While Impaired- Alcohol and Drugs
- Operation While Impaired- Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
- Driving While Under Suspension
- Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance
- Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor
- Drive Motor Vehicle – No Permit
- Novice Driver – B.A.C. Above Zero
Police handed the driver a 90-day driving suspension and impounded the vehicle for seven days.
Provincial police doing more to keep roads safe

Earlier this week, police nabbed an oversized car carrier that was a subject of ‘major safety violations’.
The following issues were identified:
- Missing bearing cap (risk of wheel detachment)
- Insecure load
- No cab card/IRP registration
- No log book (no hours of service compliance since Alberta)
- No commercial registration
- No annual safety inspection
- Improper trip inspection
- Inoperative trailer brakes
Both the trailer and vehicle were removed from the road.
