Two adults, three youths with serious injuries following collision

Five people are facing serious injuries following a multi-vehicle collision that left two trapped in an SUV.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, emergency crews responded to a collision between an SUV and a dump truck at the intersection of Parkway Road and 9th Line Road in Osgoode.

There were five people in the SUV at the time of the accident — two adults and three youths. A post from Ottawa Fire Services on X says firefighters were called in to help two people who remained trapped in the vehicle.

Specialized tools were used to completely remove the driver side of the vehicle, to gain access to the trapped occupants. Both occupants were safely extricated out of the vehicle approximately 20 minutes later.

All five occupants of the SUV sustained serious injuries, police say. One of the youth’s injuries is said to be life-threatening.

The driver of the truck did not suffer any physical injuries.

Police are now seeking witnesses to the collision or any dashcam footage in an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Fatal Collision Unit at 613-236-1222, extension 2345 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers.
