OPP stopped driver without insurance twice in 4 hours

A provincial police officer pulled over a driver twice in one day and laid 10 charges.

It happened on Aug. 5 on Highway 417. The first incident was around 10:30 a.m. near Carling Avenue. The driver was pulled over and the officer discovered they did not have proper insurance on the vehicle.

Police detailed in a post on X that the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act does not allow for vehicles to be impounded if a driver doesn’t have insurance. Instead, the vehicle was towed back to the driver’s residence. Police said the person understood they needed to get proper insurance before driving it again.

However, a mere four hours later, the same officer pulled over the same vehicle around 2:00 p.m. near Anderson Road.

Now the driver is facing 10 charges and $10,000 in fines for driving twice without insurance.
