A rural road outside of the nation’s capital was the scene where Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) laid several charges to a wrong-way driver.
According to the press release, officials were called around 10:00 p.m. on Sept. 19 for a traffic complaint. The caller said they saw a vehicle travelling the wrong way on Bank Street in North Dundas Township.
When police arrived, they determined the person was not fit to drive a vehicle because they said he was impaired by alcohol.
As a result, David Robertson, 63, of Nepean was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
He was released from custody and is expected to appear in front of a judge in November.
“While the OPP and its traffic safety partners remain committed to saving lives on our roads, drivers can significantly contribute by choosing not to consume alcohol or drugs when operating a motor vehicle,” officials said in a release.
