72-year-old facing charges of ‘watching’ and mischief in Barrhaven

An older Ottawa adult is facing a pair of charges following reports from people in Barrhaven that led to his arrest.

Police said they have heard of suspicious behaviour involving a man in a vehicle in the Longfields Drive and Calaveras Avenue area. The community said that between 10:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. the vehicle was seen driving through the neighbourhood and parking on different streets.

The driver was described as an older white man who was also seen walking in the area.

Officials said they were able to identify a person who was the target of the man’s behaviour.

As a result, the suspect, a 72-year-old was charged with:

  • Criminal harassment – watching and besetting
  • Mischief – interfering with the lawful enjoyment of property

He was held for a bail hearing.

Police are not releasing the accused’s identity in order to protect the victim.
