Photos released of bank robbers to identify

Police are asking the public to help them identify two suspects who are wanted in connection with a bank robbery earlier this month.

Officials first reported a heavy police presence in the 1-100 block of Main Street in the Old Ottawa East community around 9:49 a.m. on Oct. 14.

According to a press release, two suspects entered the bank by the side door. One stole an undisclosed amount of money, and the other entered with a gun and instructed staff to stay on the ground.

Both suspects left on foot in an unknown direction. A few hours later, police said the operation ended. Officers said the incident involved a financial institution; a Scotiabank on that stretch of road fits the description.

Suspect 1 is described as white, about 40 to 50 years old and between 5’9″ and 5’10” in height, with a large build.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a blue bucket hat, a blue sweatshirt with a white design, a green and orange reflective construction vest and black Under Armour jogging pants.

Suspects 2 is described by police as white and of the same height as suspect 1. During the robbery he wore dark-coloured bucket hat, a red sweatshirt, a construction vest, baggy blue jeans.

Both wore dark-coloured gloves and black medical masks.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit at 613-236-1222, extension 5116.
