Teen caught ‘flying through’ intersection at 79 km/h over limit

A 17-year-old is facing a stunt driving charge after an Ottawa police officer caught them going well above the limit south of the city.

According to police, the G2 licence holder was “flying through” the intersection of Limebank and River roads on Nov. 11. In the process the vehicle passed a traffic escort officer, police said in a release.

The vehicle was clocked at 159 km/h, in an 80 km/h zone, almost double the limit.

The vehicle was impounded and the teen’s licence revoked.

It comes just days after officers caught a suspended driver on Woodroffe near Highway 417.

“Regardless of the weather conditions; getting behind the wheel with a suspended license isn’t an option,” the release notes.
