Ottawa police are launching a homicide investigation after a man went missing six years ago.
In a press release, police said that the 2019 disappearance of Corey Baldwin is now being investigated as a homicide. This decision was made based on evidence gathered, leading investigators to believe that Baldwin was the victim of a crime.
Any human remains have not been recovered, the release notes.
He was last seen in the Montreal area in 2019 and reported missing to police in December of that year. Since then, police have been conducting an “extensive, years-long investigation.”
At the time of his disappearance, Baldwin had two young children at home. He would be 47-years-old today.
“Corey would never leave his family and two young daughters without an explanation,” Corey’s family said in a media release in 2024.
Police are offering a $75,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
He is described as 5’10”, 232 pounds, and is bald with grey/blue eyes. If unshaven, he has dirty blond hair and grey facial hair. He also has multiple tattoos on his arms, legs and back.
Previously police believed he could be in British Columbia.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts are asked to contact the Ottawa police tip line at 613-236-1222, extension 5477 or email mcm@ottawapolice.ca.
