Two arrests in Vanier traffic stop

Drug and traffic offences were laid after officers stopped a vehicle in an enforcement operation earlier this month.

Police said in a press release that two people are facing multiple Criminal Code drug-related charges after they stopped a vehicle March 3 in the Vanier area. Officers initially pulled the vehicle over for a Highway Traffic Act violation.

After the interaction, police found drugs and a loaded gun in the vehicle.

As a result, a 28-year-old man is facing charges under the Highway Traffic Act, Cannabis Control Act, Liquor Licence and Control Act and firearm-related offences under the Criminal Code.

A 24-year-old woman is facing offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, the press release details.

Ottawa police’s guns and gangs unit is taking over the investigation.
