It’s going to be a hot one as those in the nation’s capital celebrate midweek and July rolls in.

Starting Monday, the high will reach 30 C as the heat begins to move into Ottawa. It will be partly cloudy into the evening with a risk of thunderstorms overnight.

Tuesday is when people will really start to feel the heat, with a high of 29 C and a humidex of 38. It will be very humid, with sunny breaks and a risk of severe storms early in the day.

“A prolonged period of very hot conditions is expected. Check on family, friends and neighbours, who are at higher risk, particularly if they live alone, to make sure they have a cool space,” a note from Environment Canada reads.

On Canada Day, people want to choose some air-conditioned celebrations as it’s going to feel over 40 with the humidity on Wednesday.

The high will reach 33 C and only drop down to 23 C overnight. A chance of showers and a risk of storms throughout the day as well.

Little relief will come Thursday with a chance of showers in the evening and a high of 34 C.

The humidex is expected to hit 39 on Friday with a high of 34 C and a low of 22 C.

The good news by the weekend is that there should be some relief from the prolonged heat.
