Thanksgiving long weekend open, closed

OTTAWA – It’s a time to be grateful and spend time with friends and family.

The Thanksgiving long weekend has arrived and the holiday Monday comes with a number of closures around the city.

Retail and attractions:

Grocery stores are closed Monday, except for the Loblaws and Metro on Rideau Street.

Loblaws:
9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Metro:
Open 24 hours

Malls are closed Monday, except for the Rideau Centre which is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

On the Quebec side, Les Galleries de Hull, Les Promenades de l’Outaouais and Costco are open.

Many drug stores remain open on Monday.

Beer Stores and LCBO locations are closed Monday, while some Wine Rack locations are open.

Most shops and restaurants in the ByWard Market are open, along with most Ottawa museums and the National Gallery.

Shops and restaurants in the Glebe, including Lansdowne, are open.

Banks are closed and there is no postal service.

City of Ottawa schedule changes:

Garbage and recycling:

There is no garbage, recycling or composting on Monday. The pick-up schedule for the rest of the week is delayed by one day.

The Trail Waste Facility will be closed.

Transit:

OC Transpo is operating on a Sunday schedule.

The OC Transpo sales and information centres is closed Monday, with the exception of the Rideau Centre office, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Recreation services:

Some pools and recreation centres are open, but with modified schedules. Check ottawa.ca or the facility of your choice for details.

Client services:

City Hall and client service centres are closed Monday, but 311 service remains open for emergencies.

The Provincial Offences Court is closed.

Libraries are closed, as well as all city-operated child care centres.

Parking:

All parking regulations and restrictions apply.
