Kemptville community skateway closed for the season

By CityNews Ottawa

It could be a sign of warmer days ahead as the Kemptville community skateway at Curry Park has closed for the season.

The North Grenville municipality says the decision to close early was brought on due to fluctuating weather conditions, which have caused a rough surface.

Residents are advised not to access to creek, as the safety of individuals cannot be guaranteed.

According to Environment Canada, Kemptville will be in the pluses by Sunday.

Saturday will see a high of -1 C and sun during the day, with a low of -6 C and periods of snow or freezing rain in the evening.

Sunday’s high, however, will jump to 7 C with periods of freezing rain, and a low of 0 C with showers come nighttime.

Monday is expected to be a high of 2 C with a chance of flurries, with a low of -9 C with cloudy periods in the evening.

And Tuesday will be another sunny day with a high of 3 C and a mix of sun and cloud.

As warmer days approach, the municipality is encouraging residents to look forward to using the creek for boating and fishing activities.
