Fitzroy Harbour man plans to retire after winning $1-million

By Mike Vlasveld

Paul Eastwood of Fitzroy Harbour is looking forward to seeing what the future brings after winning $1-million playing Lotto 6/49's Encore.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) says Eastwood matched all seven Encore numbers in exact order in the January 18 Lotto 6/49 draw to claim his prize.

The 57-year old electronic technician discovered his win when he scanned his ticket at a ticket checker.

“Then I took my ticket to the cashier without saying anything and watched her eyes light up when she validated it,” Eastwood laughed.

While at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his cheque, he added, “This win changes everything.”

Eastwood plans to retire with his windfall.

“I will now be able to spend my life more focused on meaningful things that feed my soul — like my family and making music,” he said. “This decade will be positive and successful.”

The winning ticket was purchased at The Harbour Store on Fitzroy Street in Fitzroy Harbour.
