By Dani-Elle Dubé

An employee at the Plant Recreation Centre has tested positive for COVID-19, the City has confirmed.

In a memo sent out by the City to members of council Friday, the employee tested positive on Monday and informed the City of the results Friday.

The centre is located on Somerset Street West at the corner of Preston Street in Little Italy.

The last time the employee worked at the facility was on Sunday, September 20.

The employee continues to self-isolate at home.

To protect the identity of the individual, the City will not be releasing the employee’s name.

The City says it is working with OPH to help with contact tracing of individuals who have, or may have been, in close contact with the employee.

OPH is following up with those who may have come into close contact with the employee, which may include participants at the facility and family and friends.
