Multiple impaired driving charges laid in Ottawa Valley

It was a busy week for the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP who laid multiple impaired driving related charges across the region.
In the early morning hours of Jan. 11, police say they received a report of a possible impaired driver in Pembroke. The driver was found in Laurentian Valley Township and a roadside screening device was administered.
As a result, a 41-year-old woman was charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration is 80 mg plus.
The following day, an Arnprior resident was charged during an early morning traffic stop.
A driver was administered a roadside screening device on Cecelia Street in the City of Pembroke. The driver was then transported to the detachment for further testing.
A 47-year old man was charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration is 80 mg plus.
Both drivers had their licenses suspended for 90 days and vehicles impounded for seven days.
A third driver is facing impaired driving charges as well as drug-related charges after the seizure of a “significant” quantity of cash and suspected fentanyl and cocaine.
OPP responded to a report of a possible impaired driver in the area of International Drive in the City of Pembroke on Jan. 15 around 1 p.m.
Police say they located the vehicle and driver in a parking lot.
The driver was taken into custody during an investigation. Suspected fentanyl and cocaine were seized along with over $20,000 in cash.
As a result, a 42-year-olf man from Providence Bay has been charged with the following Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs Substances Act offences:
- Operation while impaired – drugs;
- Three counts of possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl;
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine;
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000;
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000; and
- Possession cannabis for the purpose of selling.
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
