Capital ward councillor Shawn Menard is hosting a community safety walk through two Ottawa neighbourhoods.
On Twitter, Menard says he has been hearing from residents experiencing harassment in Old Ottawa South and the Glebe, with “no action from authorities.”
In response, the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) tells CityNews Ottawa, if at any time a person feels threatened or harassed, they should call police immediately.
Menard goes on to say it's completely unacceptable so he's decided to take action.
I’ve been hearing today about harassment occurring in Old Ottawa South and the Glebe with no action from authorities. This is unacceptable. I’m going to be doing a community walk tomorrow starting at Bank and Sunnyside at 10:30am, walking up Bank Street. #Ottawa

Menard will host the community walk, starting at Bank Street and Sunnyside Avenue at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 11, with those taking park walking north along Bank Street.
Menard is also reminding residents of an online tool set up by community members that can be used to report incidents associated with the ongoing occupation by anti-COVID-mandate demonstrators.
