Ottawa police lay charges in sexual assault against youth under 16

By Mike Vlasveld

A 24-year-old Ottawa man is facing sexual assault-related charges after police say he was involved in an incident in which a person under the age of 16 was assaulted.

Ottawa police explain that in August 2019, the suspect contacted the victim via social media and suggested they meet. Once they met, investigators say the suspect sexually assaulted the victim.

Mustafa Shakir has been charged with:

  • Sexual Assault
  • Sexual Interference
  • Invitation to Sexual Touching

He is scheduled to appear in court today.

Investigators believe there could be other victims in this case, and they would like the public to be aware that Shakir goes by the “Moo” on SnapChat and “Mustafa Alasdai” on Facebook.
