More than 640,000 visit Canada Science and Technology Museum in first year re-opened

Compared to the years before its renovation, the Canada Science and Technology Museum has seen its annual attendance double since re-opening in November of 2017.

The museum welcomed more than 640,000 visitors since last fall, and has been honoured with several national and provincial awards in recognition for its successful renewal.

Thanks to new accessibility standards put into the reinvented space, the museum was the first national public institution in Canada to receive the Accessibility Certified Gold rating under the Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification program.

The Canada Science and Technology Museum says it's summer exhibition The Art of the Brick was a big success.

“We're thrilled with the success of the museum since re-opening our doors last fall, and will build on this momentum as we continue to push the limits of our imaginations for many years to come,” said Lisa Leblanc, Director General, Canada Science and Technology Museum.

It will be hoping for continued success with its upcoming summer exhibition, Leonardo Da Vinci – 500 Years of Genius, slated to open in May 2019.

To mark its first anniversary, the museum will be providing free entry for the first 100 visitors to come through its doors on November 17, 2018.

Visitors of all ages are also being invited to share their museum memories from the past year on social media, using #SciTechOneYear.
