Ottawa fire crews quickly contain fire in Vanier bungalow

There are no injuries reported after a porch fire at a Vanier bunglaow.
Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting heavy smoke and flames coming from one-storey home on Shakespeare Street, between Anne and Bradley avenues, around 7:56 a.m on Aug. 26
The 9-1-1 caller also reported the fire was spreading from the porch to the roof of the home, which is divided into two apartments, and that three dogs live in the basement apartment.
The first fire crew arrived on scene at 7:59 a.m., three minutes after being dispatched, and confirmed heavy smoke and flame conditions on the exterior of the home.
A working fire was declared within two minutes of arrival and additional crews were called to help combat the fire and search the home for occupants.
Firefighters used chainsaws to cut holes in the roof to extinguish the fire and ventilate the home, and the fire was under control by 8:20 a.m.
According to OFS, there were no occupants or pets inside the home at the time of the blaze.
The fire was contained to the roof and did not spread to the interior of the home.
Victims services was required for one adult.
A fire investigator has responded in order to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
