Advance voting days for Ottawa’s municipal elections coming up

By CityNews Ottawa

Advance voting days for the upcoming municipal elections will occur on Friday, Oct. 7, and Friday, Oct. 14.

A City memo said voting places would be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., except for long-term care centres and retirement homes, which may have reduced hours.

Electors can verify when and where they can vote on their voter notification letter or by using the Where Do I Vote? tool on ottawa.ca/vote.

Although it's not required to vote, bringing a voter notification letter to the voting place will expedite the voting process.

“If you did not receive a voter notification letter, you can verify your information on the Voters' List using the “Am I on the Voters' List?” tool,” the memo said.

The City says that if your name does not appear on the Voters' List, or if you would like to amend your information, you can do so at your voting place on voting days.

All electors will be required to present a piece of identification that includes their name and Ottawa address. Photo identification is not needed. If you cannot show acceptable proof of identity and residence, you can make a statutory declaration before being issued a ballot.

Electors who do not vote on one of the advance vote days can vote in person on Voting Day, Monday, Oct. 24. from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

All voting places are fully accessible. Visit ottawa.ca/vote or email elections@ottawa.ca for information about the accessibility tools available to electors at voting places.
