Group of five celebrates $1M Lotto Maxmillions win

By Anil Jhalli

A group of five people, from parts of eastern Ontario and Québec, won a Maxmillion prize worth $1 million in the Oct. 18 Lotto Max draw.

Shawn Cassidy from Ashton, Jean-Marc David from Québec, John Bain from Spencerville, Steven Allen of Ottawa and Sylvian Proulx from Québec, all coworkers, said they would play the lottery together monthly.

“I didn't believe it. I thought it was a joke,” said David while at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) Prize Centre in Toronto to collect their winnings. “I told my wife, and she was in shock. She jumped and screamed with excitement.”

Cassidy and David both plan to pay bills with their share of the winnings.
